Weekday Workout

The weather was gorgeous yesterday, so I hit one of the trails at my work during lunch. It was almost a little hot, but I am super thankful for the sunshine!

This song has always been my jam. It gets me pumped. I have issues, I know.

Another great reason to get out and run for even a little bit is that I can use my workout to donate to a cause close to my heart. You have to check out the Charity Miles app! It lets you pick a cause to donate to every time you run! Can't beat that!

Another good day and workout in the books. It left me with some motivation and momentum to get through the rest of the day!

Another Weekend!

Apparently I'm a slacker and only do weekend posts. Oh well. This weekend was a busy one!

I spent Friday at the Senior PGA tournament at Top of the Rock. The weather couldn't have been better. I actually got out and walked the course this year too, so it was nice to get some exercise in the sun!

If you ever get out to Top of the Rock, you have to do the Cave Tour. It's my favorite part. So many beautiful waterfalls!

Plus, there's a beautiful cave. And it has a bar at the entrance. Can't beat that!!

It was seriously a gorgeous weekend for some golf!

Friday night we hit up happy hour at our favorite sushi place- Haruno. My favorites are Sex and the City and Miami. And they just so happen to be the two rolls on special. Win win.

Saturday morning, I hit Common Grounds for coffee with the besties. Then, the bestie and I headed out to hike at Busiek State Park. How in the world did I not know about these trails? They were packed with people too! It was a decent hike, some uphill to get the legs burning, and we had to cross a creek- so that was kinda fun. It felt good to get a little wet and cool off. I'll definitely be back here soon!

After our hike, we headed to the Great American Taco Company for lunch on their patio. I'm serious about soaking up the weather! I had the Veggie SoCal taco. Delicious!! And a ridiculous amount of guacamole.

Sunday was a pretty lazy day. I don't think I even went outside- sad since the weather was gorgeous again. I did manage some meal prep for the week. Hello veggies!

And now, on to another week! Have a great one!

Busy Weekend!

I was on the go all weekend, it seemed. Started out with some me-time on Saturday morning to run some errands. Grabbed a quick breakfast of toast, peanut butter, chia seeds, and honey- then hit the road!

After a long stroll through Target, I needed some fuel for the rest of my shopping. Sea salt pita chips and hummus are totally my jam right now. I accidentally got pine nut hummus, but it turned out to be delicious!

Stopped by Petsmart to look at the puppies up for adoption. It was so hard to walk away!

Saturday night was date night with the Hubbs. Our first stop was Black Sheep. We hit the upstairs bar for some gorgonzola bacon dip. Love that stuff and that place!

We couldn't decide what we wanted for dinner so we finally headed to a favorite- Falstaffs Local. We watched a little bit of hockey, and I devoured their Burnt Ends Chicken Salad. Delicious!

Sunday was a little less crazy but still got a lot done. I finally decided to clean up the front flower beds. I didn't last year, and it drove me crazy all year long.

Here's the before:

And the after:

Not a lot of change- just pruning back the flowers that got out of control and adding some fresh mulch. But it feels cleaner and looks better- so that's all that matters. Plus it was nice to finally enjoy some warm weather and sun outside!

I spent the rest of the afternoon in the kitchen. La Croix to get me going- this cucumber blackberry one is pretty delicious!

Meal prepping for lunches this week- made some white bean hummus with garlic then decided to throw in some spinach. Easy and healthy!

Gotta have some fruit- grapes and cantaloupe!

And that was my crazy weekend. Very productive but now I need some downtime to relax!

Back at it!

After a week of being on the road and then easing back into life, it was great to finally have some normal days. I was actually really excited to hit the gym. And my playlist was spot on. I had some serious jams pumping me up.

Love me some weightlifting. It felt so good to work the muscles again!

And then, I was back to Girls on the Run! Practice 5k next week then our real 5k in 2 weeks. This season has flown by. For energy awards, we did the dead bug. The girls loved it.

Glad to be back home and settled in for a few weeks before hitting the road again. I plan on lots of rest and relaxation this weekend and hopefully some warm weather!

Connecticut!

After all our fun in NYC, we took the Metro North train to New Haven.

I've recently been obsessed with Gilmore Girls, so our friend drove us around Yale's campus. Gorgeous!! On our next trip, we're going to find Star's Hollow!

We had dinner at Frank Pepe's. The cheese pizza with garlic was fantastic.

I was also introduced to birch beer. So good!!

On Saturday, we had breakfast at Sweet Harmony in Middletown, CT. They had some amazing looking crepes. I stuck to the California breakfast sandwich with bacon, and it was great!

Later that day, we attended a cousin's wedding at the Pavilion on Crystal Lake. LOVED the reception area. The weather was a little cold and started raining at the end of the wedding, but we had a blast. I don't think I've been to a wedding more full of fun and pure love. Plus, there were cannolis! The food was heaven.

After a crazy week, we headed back home. Since we can't get a direct flight to save our lives, I picked the route that took 20 minutes longer just so I could catch a glimpse of my favorite city- Minneapolis. I lived there in college, and I miss it... 8 months out of the year. :) Just hearing the northern accents was music to my ears.

Now we're home and trying to recover from such a busy trip. We've done nothing each night after work but eat and sleep. Hopefully we'll be back at it again soon!

NYC Day 3

The trip turned into a whirlwind, and I totally slacked at posting. But here's the rest of it!

On Day 2 night, we ate dinner at Reichenbach Hall. Delicious pretzel and schnitzel!

After dinner, we took a train to the Upper West Side. Hubbs was super excited because he found the cafe from my favorite movie "You've Got Mail." I honestly haven't seen him that excited about taking me somewhere.

And I'm so glad we went! It was a cute, quiet little place. And the cheesecake was fantastic! I had the amaretto and he had a caramel apple slice.

On our last morning in NYC, we woke up and started walking towards MOMA. We stopped at Rockefeller. I couldn't believe the skating rink was still open.

Then we stopped for breakfast at Macchiato. Delicous chocolate croissant and coffee. It hit the spot on this dreary morning.

Then, on to the MOMA. We've been wanting to go here forever. And we picked the perfect, rainy day to do it. One of my favorites was Warhol. Super excited to see that. Also just learned that our local museum has some Andy Warhol- left me shocked- but I only found out because someone stole some of the pieces. Crazy!

And then we saw the Starry Night! Beautiful! And a much different experience than trying to see the Mona Lisa.

After that, we headed to Grand Central to catch our train to Connecticut. After wandering around the food court twice, we decided on hot dogs since we hadn't had any in the city yet. And they were delicious!

More from the weekend in Connecticut to come!

NYC Day 2

Started off day 2 by running into the Flatiron Building.

Then we made our way over to Best Bagel and Coffee to grab breakfast. I stuck with the basic bagel and cream cheese. Heaven. Pure heaven. Even the pigeons wanted in on this action.

We walked around Wall Street and the 9-11 Memorial. Also stopped at St. Paul's- my favorite place in NYC. There was a choir and band practicing so it was great to relax and listen to some awesome music.

Then we headed to Chinatown for lunch. I had shrimp lo mein at Joe's Shanghai Restaurant. Can't get lo mein like this where I live. So good! And warmed up with some nice, hot green tea. It did surprise me that this was a shared seating place, but our table mates didn't talk to us so we were happy. :)

We also stopped by Little Italy for a bit- more later. Then headed up to see the Seinfeld restaurant on the Upper West Side.

Loved this church and sculpture park.

Then we wander through the north side of Cental Park before taking a break to eat an amazing cannoli from Caffe Palermo. So good! Plus it was great to rest our feet in front of the Guggenheim.

Busy day but fun. Still cold and windy. Nap break in the hotel to warm up before dinner tonight. Last night in NYC before we head to Connecticut tomorrow.

New York- Finally!

I swear, I do not have the best lucks with the flights. We drove to Kansas City yesterday afternoon for an evening flight to La Guardia. It was direct and super cheap so we figured it was worth the drive... A billion delays later...

Thankfully, we figured all this out before actually getting to the airport. We called Marriott and they booked us in a KC hotel and modified our NYC reservation at no charge. And Delta booked us on the 5:50a flight and refunded our money. Not too shabby! And we still got to NYC 4 hours earlier than if we had kept our original flight!

So we had a nice, relaxing night in KC and made it to NYC at 10 this morning.

We hit the ground running!!

Grabbed some delicious pizza at Highline Pizzeria and found a sunny place up on the High Line to eat. It was freezing but still fun!

Then we wandered through Chelsea to the Chelsea Marketplace. Love all the different shops there!

After that we headed back to the hotel for a quick nap and shower, then out to dinner!

Delicious hummus and a crab cake sandwich at Parker & Quinn. Gorgeous little restaurant with great service! Fun night.

After that, we wandered over to Bryant Park.

Then, we strolled through Times Square and a few stores before calling it a night. Productive first day in NYC despite the delays!
