Gorgeous Weeknight Date

It's been a busy week so far... we're getting some renovations done on our home, fixed our dishwasher, and took Snoops to the vet for his annual checkup. In between all of that, we've been binge watching The Office like nobody's business.

I feel like this image of Kevin is totally me right now- double fisting frozen treats. No shame. No shame.

Last night, we walked out of work and the weather was SO gorgeous- we couldn't believe it. It's been super hot and humid. But last night, the humidity was gone and all we wanted to do was be outside. So we packed up Snoops and headed into town for a midweek date night. We planned to go to Creekside and sit out by the creek- we even called and asked if they were open and if we could bring our dog, they said yes. When we got there- they were closed! Super bummed.

So, we headed to Galloway Station instead. Snoopy wasn't so sure about this Mother's beer...

I got a mini bacon burger. It was heaven. Their burgers are SO good. And so are the chips. My husband was amazed that I finished my food way ahead of him. This is a feat because usually he has to wait a good 15 minutes for me to finish my food after he gets done!

Snoopy likes to think he's a people. He sat at the table with us, happy as can be! The chips we shared just made him even happier. :)

After dinner, we headed over to Sequiota Park and walked for about 45 minutes just soaking in the gorgeous night. It was so good that I forgot to take any pictures!

I've been having a good week in the gym. Had a good running session on Tuesday. I tweaked my back, hip, nerve doing some weightlifting today, so I'm pretty bummed about that. I'm hoping it will heal up quickly. I was feeling so confident about working out this week! Sad.

Also.. here's a little confession for you...

No shame. I use the gym at work, and it's the only place I can use the restroom in peace!

All I Need is a Lake View

Last week, I was getting a little stir crazy in Springtown and was in need of some adventure. So, for date night- we headed south!

Our first stop was Copper Run Distillery. Sadly, no moonshine for me. Hubbs had a great flight of moonshine and whiskey, while I had a really tasty tropical soda.

Then, we headed down to Big Cedar for dinner. All I needed was a little glimpse of that lake to relax. Such a beautiful night!

We wanted to keep it casual, so we just headed down to Buzzard Bar for dinner. These pork nachos were amazing!!

We were able to catch the sunset from the top of the hill on the way out. It was such an amazing moment to just sit there, in the warm summer air, and watch the lights come on over the lake with my hubbs. Absolutely beautiful. A wonderful moment I'll hold close to my heart.

After we left Top of the Rock, we stopped by the Landing to see if we could find some dessert. I was on a mission for gelato. Sadly, I didn't find any but we did enjoy seeing the fountains and walking along the lake some more.

Saturday morning, we hit up our local coffee shop. I woke up thinking about cinnamon rolls, and there was one left when we arrived. I was all over it!

Last week was a pretty chaotic one at work, so I decided to book a prenatal massage at my spa for a little relaxation and me time. It was amazing.

My massage therapist told me about a detox bath to try out when I got home. 1 cup epsom salt, 1 cup sea salt, and 1/2 a cup of baking soda. So, I hopped in the tub with a little sparkling soda and a magazine to continue relaxing.

For dinner, I made salmon sriracha tacos. Delicious!

This last weekend definitely hit the spot. I got some of the adventure and relaxation that I'd been craving. Now, to tackle another week!

Gender Reveal Weekend

Last week was a fun one. We had our 20 week doctor's appointment. Our baby is perfectly healthy! Such a relief. And we got to find out the gender! We were so excited that we video chatted with all of our families that night to share the news.

The doctor also told me I shouldn't worry about eating a little more Andy's ever now and then... so that's exactly what I did this weekend. Love me some custard!!

We also went to Haruno for dinner, but of course I was too excited about the food to take a picture.

On Saturday, we had a little gender reveal and bbq with our friends.

It's a girl!!!

And the rest of our weekend pretty much looked like this... a whole lot of nothing. Just napping and relaxing.

The Laziest Weekends are the Fastest!

Despite all these pictures, we really didn't do much this weekend. It was fairly relaxing- lots of naps and Netflix.

Friday night we decided to check out a new restaurant in town- Calagaro's Pizzeria. At first, I was a fan- they were playing rap music and the appearance looked pretty trendy.

We ordered the calamari as an appetizer. I thought this was kinda wimpy for $10. I much prefer the Red Room's calamari! That's what I was looking for, so not impressed here.

We ordered a pizza- just basic sausage and some other meat. It was okay. The service was pretty slow even though the restaurant was fairly empty. The staff was a little off as well- waited a bit to be seated because no one was at the front desk. Then the guy told us it was his first day and he didn't know where to seat us- not sure if he was joking because he seemed like the owner. When we left, he was standing outside talking on a cell phone. Super awkward.

Overall, the prices didn't really fit the atmosphere of this restaurant. It seemed like they couldn't decide if it should be a trendy pizzeria or a sports bar. At first glance, the inside looks awesome but then you realize there are tv's everywhere and daily specials plastered all over the wall. And $1 beer. Just a confusing experience. We'll see how long they last.

But hey- the sunset downtown sure didn't disappoint! Loving these summer nights.

Woke up early each morning this weekend- guess that means I've had plenty of sleep. It was nice to get out and run before it got too hot. Beautiful Saturday morning!

I spent a lot of time just relaxing on the back porch... then I saw this. And I'm now scared for the safety of my future child. Yikes.

A little before dinner on Saturday, I couldn't get mac n cheese off my mind. So we whipped up this quick fix. Just some shells, Laughing Cow Creamy Asiago, and some bacon bits. It hit the spot!

Sunday, we hit the theatre to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Hubbs is a die hard fan. Afterwards, we decided to stop for some frozen yogurt. Apparently Orange Leaf is just one set price now instead of weighing. Not sure I'm a huge fan of that. I definitely got more than I usually did, but it was amazing- so I guess it doesn't really matter.

Last night I had some energy and made the Hubbs dinner for a change. Basically a quick fix for sushi, and it was delicious! And healthy! Click here for the recipe.

Great weekend, but it went quick. Trying to savor all of these summer days while I can!

Anniversary!

Hubbs nailed it today! He caught me off guard with some great surprises for our 8th anniversary.

I came back to my desk to find these beautiful flowers!

And then he took me out to dinner. In Minneapolis, one of our favorite places and the spot of our first date, was Fat Lorenzos. We found a similar stand in place here in Springfield- Bambinos. It's a similar, tiny place with great Italian food.  We started off with side salads.

Then, I ordered my favorite- the crab cakes. You seriously cannot beat these. My mouth is watering just thinking about the leftovers in my fridge! I can't wait to dig into this again.

A great mid-week anniversary dinner! Gotta love my man for spoiling me so much!

Feels Like Summer

Another wonderful weekend is in the books!! We kicked it off Friday night downtown. We hit up Mudlounge for drinks (decaf chai hit the spot!) and chips and salsa while we waited for our table at one of our favorites places.

Hello, Black Sheep! Love love love this place. And we were seated at our special table in the back. The last date night we ever truly had on our own before Baby T decided to start joining us. :)

I had my usual- the Foodie. I'm sure you've seen pictures of it on here before, but here's another.

Saturday morning, I made hubby breakfast- a little early anniversary celebration. Lemon yogurt pancakes with blueberries. Pretty delicious and summery! Here's the recipe. I substituted greek yogurt for ricotta.

Later in the day, I took a little roadtrip up north to visit my cousin and see her new house. It was great to spend some time with her. We checked out some paint samples and then hit up the flea markets. We found this sign that reminded us of our grandpa. Sure do miss him and his fried chicken- especially in the summer!

I had to grab a pineapple milkshake on the way home. For some reason they are never as good as I remember them being. Thankfully, I got the mini size!

Sunday morning, I actually got up and out for a quick run. It felt so good but was a lot harder than I expected. Maybe I can blame it on the dog and his nose! Has to sniff everything. Then I surprised Hubby with brunch reservations. I have been wanting to visit this orchard by our house for years, then I happened to see that they served brunch... oh man, I have found a hidden gem.

This place was so peaceful. The decor was spot on, and the food was delicious. It wasn't very spendy either! Hubbs had a mimosa and grapefruit beer. I sadly had a fresh squeezed grapefruit juice, but it was delicious! We ate outside on the deck and soaked in the lovely weather.

The biscuits and gravy were phenomenal. And so was the eggs benedict with salmon and avocado. The potatoes were also delicious. I could rave about this food forever. I may eat here every Sunday for the rest of the summer. Everything is farm fresh and oh, so good!!!

We spent the rest of the day out on our back porch relaxing. I decided to make myself a little mocktail of grapefruit juice and sparkling water. It was a wonderful way to end the weekend! Already looking forward to the next- I love summer!

We're having a what!??!

Guess I should probably write about this since it's public knowledge now...

We are having a baby! Due October 31!

Snoopy still isn't sure what to think!

We found out on February 23. I was in shock then, and I'm still in shock. It's just a very surreal thing to me. This was totally planned, but I think a part of me never thought it would actually happen. I took a test one morning before work and wasn't sure about the results.. spent all day googling pictures of positive tests before finally telling my Hubbs that night. Then, we took another test. It was positive too. So the next day we went out and bought a test that would actually spell out whether I was pregnant or not- and I am! Apparently!

My husband has been absolutely amazing throughout this whole thing. Shortly after we found out, I had to take a business trip to Austin, TX. I came back late at night to find this package on our counter. He had researched everything I needed for the first trimester and made me a survival kit!

Thankfully, I never had to use the bucket!! :) I was a little queasy the first few weeks and really really tired. But I'm in the second trimester now and barely feel pregnant- other than the fact that my clothes don't fit!

We're extremely excited for this new adventure- ready to find out if it's a boy or girl in a week and a half and really throw ourselves into prepping for the new addition to our family. It's a crazy adventure, and we're excited to be on it and share it all with our family and friends!
