Easter Schmeaster

Easter is one of those holidays that is never on my radar. It changes every year, and I'm not very religious. And more importantly, I don't get any time off work- so it's pretty much a non existent holiday to me.

I did spend time with my extended family- which was great. Plus nothing beats hash brown casserole.

Since we knew everyone and their mother would be at church on Sunday, we hit up brunch bright and early. Walked straight into Early Bird Breakfast Pub- no wait!!

So then I stuffed my face with one of their Nests- the Eagle. SO GOOD.

After breakfast, we decided to go to Target... which apparently was closed....FOR THE ENTIRE DAY. Seriously, Easter is totally not on my radar.

Then, since again, everyone was at church- we hit up AMC for Batman Vs. Superman. And hello $4 tickets. Talk about a win!! Movie was pretty good too. Hubbs loved it.

Also spent this weekend missing my Grandpa quite a bit. The hurt never really goes away. And you never know quite when it will strike. I'll miss him forever.

Feelings Friday...

Struggling today. I had a really good week and felt like I was in my groove- thriving. Then today, I just felt like the floor was crumbling beneath me and just got frustrated.

I've made mistakes, but I work hard to overcome them. But sometimes, I just feel like I'll never be good enough. Just one of those things I've been struggling my whole life. Working so hard to make others happy and to do the right thing. Sometimes I forget to focus on me.

No matter what, I will work hard and make good decisions for me. I hope that's enough for everyone else but it doesn't matter as long as it's good enough for me.

So I hit the gym. Took out some feelings on some weights and am feeling a little better.

Just needed that reminder today that I'm doing my best and as long as I know that, it doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks.

New Orleans

New Orleans. Not a huge fan.

Arrived here Sunday night after a frustrating morning at Ohare. Missed my connection because they couldn't find a gate to park the plane. Lovely.

Lucked out and got the only standby seat on the next flight and made it to my meetings just in time! Hit the ground running.

After such a crazy day, I headed straight for my room and ordered room service. Crab cakes have never tasted so good! Salad looked amazing but they brought the wrong dressing, and I just couldn't stomach it.

Room had a fun view!

Kicked off Monday morning with some in-room yoga. It was great to clear my head before launching myself into 2 days full of 23 meetings.

Then fueled with an in-room breakfast. Bacon and fruit- my go to.

Dinner was offsite last night so I was able to see a little bit of the Garden District/Uptown. Gorgeous! It was a nice to see a bette side of New Orleans than the French Quarter. It almost made me want to come back!

Headed home shortly. Time to rest up! One week at home, and then we are off to NYC for a little much-needed vacation!!

6 Days in the Road and I'm Gonna Make It Home Tonight

What a crazy week! I can barely keep up. I was in Kansas City for work on Tuesday and Wednesday, then I headed to St Louis for meetings on Friday.

Because of the chaos, Hubbs and I hit Houlihans for dinner Thursday night. . Hubbs went for the healthier options of steak, green beans, and asparagus. Me, not so much. Can't beat happy hour chicken nachos and wings

We also decided to road trip out to Louisville for the weekend to meet our new niece. Since St. Louis was on the way, I had my coworker drop me off at Starbucks to wait for Hubbs. I couldn't have asked for a more relaxing Friday afternoon! I got lots of work and reading done.

So many gas station stops on the way... but found a new gas station somewhere in Illinois. They had some pretty amusing books.

Saturday, we met my niece! She is so tiny. 4 1/2 pounds. So basically, the rest of the weekend was just sitting around in sweats holding babies and chilling with family. Perfection. :)

Look how big her pacifier looks! Adorable! Great weekend, but more craziness to come! New Orleans for more work on Sunday!

Kansas City

This week, I had to make a quick work trip to Kansas City. I'm staying at Harrah's- definitely not my choice. I absolutely hate casinos, but I'm making the best of it!

We ate at the 37 steakhouse in Harrah's since it was raining, and we didn't feel like going out. Food was good. Great crab mac and cheese, asparagus, creamed spinach, etc.

My boss made me take leftovers, so I'll most likely be hitting these around midnight.

And since I hate gambling, I relaxed the rest of the night away with some Headspace meditation, a face mask, and Us Weekly. Not too shabby!

No Nonsense Nelly

Spent yesterday afternoon with my kiddos at Girls on the Run. Love this program!

We spent our time talking about negative thoughts and replacing them with positive thoughts about ourselves. No matter what age, we always need this reminder!

And then we threw away our thoughts into No Nonsense Nelly.

So just a reminder today to be good to yourself! Speak positively to yourself!! You are beautiful just as you are!

Home Sweet Home!

After 11 meetings back to back, I happily headed to the airport! And I swear, security dogs just make me happy...

I have to say that Austin's isn't my favorite. It took me forever to find a calm, quiet place to sit for awhile that wasn't playing live music. After a hectic day, I just wanted to chill.

Devoured this taco salad... Without a shell because apparently they were out. Then put up with flight delays, switching flights, rushing through DFW, and finally making it to home sweet home around midnight.

So Austin...never left my hotel, sorry. JW Marriott is pretty good. Airport isn't the best, but I think the weather was great. :)

Night in

After 11 meetings nonstop, I have never been more ready for a chill night in.

Hubbs and I watched Bachelor over the phone together while I put away some not so horrible room service food.

And then I welcomed my new leap baby niece into the world! Can't wait for another trip out to Louisville to meet her!!
