Lesson: Don't Shop For Couches in 3rd Trimester

Friday night was date night. It was so nice to be back home with Hubbs after a long week in Houston! And the weather here felt downright amazing after the nasty, humid heat there. We finally made it over to Tea Bar and Bites for dinner. We've been talking about going for over a year now!

We even sat out on the patio, right in front of the fan of course! And listened to some live music. Hello, strawberry lemonade!

Their hummus was delicious!

And even though it was hot, I got a a panini with cheese, tomatoes, and other delicious stuff. It was super good!

Saturday morning, we kicked off the day by finalizing the new carpet for our house. I've been waiting literally since we moved in 6 years ago to replace all the carpet. Three more weeks to go. I am ecstatic. We asked Snoopy to choose which carpet he preferred, since he'd be spending the most time on it. He wasn't every helpful.

And then, we just decided to get all crazy and order the new furniture that we were planning to purchase after the carpet is installed. The carpet company is moving all the furniture for us- so we decided that it doesn't matter if we get a ton of new furniture now or later. :)

I also found out that couch shopping is not a good idea in your third trimester. Poor Hubbs had to help me up off every single couch. It was quite the workout. We had to split it into two days of shopping because I was so worn out! But we finally found a sectional that works for what we want!

And then we just said the heck with it and bought a new bedroom set too. We finally have real, grown up furniture! Honestly, by this point, I was so tired- that I let Hubbs pick whatever he wanted. I don't care- just get me a dresser to put my clothes in! And it came with a free bedding set. Not too shabby!

Sunday night, Hubbs made me a steak dinner to celebrate the new furniture. We realized all of this food was organic and straight from my dad's garden or deer woods. :) I love fresh food! Thankful for our endless supply of venison!

And I have to say, after being gone all last week, I was super excited to hit the gym Monday. I worked out a little bit while in Houston, but it really felt like I hadn't done much. I was even able to squeeze in a little running- which made me feel really good. Hello, third trimester! Here we go!

Now to the rest of the week!

Houston- Part 2

Monday night, I headed out to a work dinner at Vic and Anthony's Steakhouse. The food was delicious- mainly this cheesecake. Absolute heaven!!

Wednesday was a busy day full of meetings, but I got a nice little break for lunch and headed down to explore the tunnels of Houston.

It reminded me of the skyways of Minneapolis from college- but below ground to avoid heat instead of cold!

I ended up grabbing some Ben and Jerry's before a quick nap in my room.

And how am I supposed to nap when Gilmore Girls is on?!? My absolute favorite show!

After more afternoon meetings, I headed out on the town for a night with the girls. I am so thankful to work in a tight nit industry where I see the same people every time I travel. We have all become close friends, and I can't imagine life without the support of some of these awesome people! Makes my job that much better.

I don't post many pictures of myself, but I totally felt like I was rocking the baby bump this week and snapped a selfie.

We ended up at Javier's for dinner. One of the waiters stopped by our table and offered to make me a mocktail. I could have hugged him! This was the best drink! I'm not even sure what it was but it just felt great to have someone notice and make an effort like that!

We ate out on the patio. There was a nice breeze, and it was the perfect evening

After dinner, we walked to Underbelly for dessert.

Their ice cream sammy was delicious!

As was this little pie!

It was definitely a wonderful last night in Houston, but I'm so ready to be home with the boys!!

Houston & House of Blues

Busy, busy week in Houston! Thankfully flights were on time and quick on Sunday. I was greeted with a beautiful sunset as well. But, hello humidity!!

I got in pretty late so just hit up room service and watched Home Alone 2.

Monday was full of meetings and event prep. I've been working the last couple of months to put on a party at House of Blues. The location was phenomenal! Photos don't do it justice. Each room was so unique and had the perfect spots to sit and visit. I can't recommend it enough.

The prayer rooms were my favorite.

So many different rooms to explore. I found this patio once then couldn't find it again!

The food was great too! We did a Mac and Cheese bar that I hit up more than once. Hey, if I can't drink, I'm gonna eat!

We also hired local 80s cover band Thunderpants. I wasn't able to catch a ton of the show but everyone seemed to enjoy them!

What a crazy trip so far- and that was just Monday!

Another Weekend.

I kicked off the weekend Friday morning with an early walk with my main fur man. I really should do that more. He sure does love to get out and walk!

Friday night, I made a shrimp linguine for dinner. It was basically just pasta, crushed tomatoes, spinach, and shrimp that had been sauteed in lots of garlic and butter. Quick, easy, and healthy!

Sunday morning, I woke up to my husband suggesting brunch. I could never say no to that! So we headed to the Aviary. I splurged on the nutella crepe, and it was so worth it!

Then, we did some shopping for nursery decor. I'm super excited for all the little touches and can't wait to start putting it all together!

Pretty relaxed, easy weekend. Now off to the races this week!

A Run- Finally!!

As you can see from the picture below, we've had lots of rain. If it hasn't been raining, it's been really hot and humid. And I've been dealing with some good ol' pregnancy related hip pain and a nasty cold. But finally, the stars aligned- I was feeling better, and it had just rained- leaving the temp outside at 75 degrees! So, I hit the trail during my lunch break.

I was very happy to get through this mile, and the time was even better than what I've been running lately! Combined with some weightlifting- it was a very good lunch break workout!

I hit the gym again today- would ya just look at this belly? No clue where it came from. Just thankful that I can still be active!

Funky Fourth

The Fourth of July is my absolute favorite holiday, but this one was just a little bit off. I came down with a horrible cold on Friday, so I spent most of the weekend taking it easy. Thankfully, the weather was super rainy, so I didn't feel too bad about being a bum inside.

Plus I got some nice snuggles from my furbaby.

And- I have the bestest friends. Danielle found out I wasn't feeling well and brought me a cinnamon roll Saturday morning. Seriously- the best!! It made my day.

Celebrated a friend's birthday on Saturday night at El Maguey and chilled at her house afterwards. I still wasn't feeling very good and didn't even think to take pictures.

Sunday, I rested then finally pulled it together to head to my family's Fourth of July get together. My most favorite one of the whole year!! We stopped to buy some fireworks- we were going to set off pink or blue smoke bombs to reveal the gender of our baby to the family.

And this is what happened.... Apparently the color of the smoke bomb didn't work quite right. Not sure what white means? Are we having a transgender baby? :)

Monday, we met up with my mom for lunch at Black Sheep. I didn't think you needed ANOTHER picture of the same burger I get every single time. :) Then, we took a little road trip to Mansfield, MO to visit the Laura Ingalls Wilder home and museum.

I've been here a few times throughout childhood because my great grandparents lived in this town. I was really excited to see the new museum! So beautiful!

And we walked up the new path to the house. I seriously love this place.

And then we drove out to my most favorite part- the Rose Wilder house. I would die to have a little rock house like this one!

Monday night, we chilled out at home and tried to recuperate. We got all our food set for the Bachelor- caprese salad and shrimp cocktail. Then, 7 minutes into the show, we realized it was a rerun. Bummer!!

So- we switched back to more Office! :)

We wrapped up the night with a bowl of ice cream out on the back porch watching all the amazing fireworks in our neighborhood. We go all out here in Missouri. There were at least 5 different neighbors around us shooting off big fireworks- it didn't die down until almost midnight. It was so much fun to watch them all- even if it did terrify poor Snoopy. And the weather ended up clearing off too. It was a great end to the weekend!
